Tomorrowland Skyline Lounge

Updated November 2, 2023

On May 26, 2017, The Tomorrowland Skyline Lounge experience debuted at Disneyland.

I was there the second date to try it out, take photos and share my experience.

For all the Disney provided details on this option (including pricing) and to book via the Disneyland website, visit this link.

Or, call 714.781.DINE to reserve.

Let’s take a look at what you can expect.

Basic Scoop

This dining experience includes a laid back “lounge” atmosphere where you will enjoy dinner and a beverage while taking in views of the park from a vantage point many guests haven’t seen before.

Disney describes it as:

“High above Tomorrowland, you’ll have plenty of time to relax from the balcony lounge of Tomorrowland Expo Center. And if a fireworks spectacular is scheduled, you can catch a glimpse of it right from your seat. The lounge area is open to party Guests from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM, so you can sit or stroll around for a full 2 hours or even come and go at your leisure.

Each ticketed Guest receives a boxed treat containing seasonal fruits, cheese and assorted sweets, plus choice of hot or cold non-alcoholic beverage. Please note that food and beverage offerings are subject to change.

There is ample seating at this event, but due to space considerations you may be seated with another party. Separate Disneyland theme park admission is required and not included in the price of this event.

Fireworks shows take place on select nights and are subject to cancellation without notice due to weather or other circumstances. Please check schedule for performance times.”

Some notes:

  • The cost is $60 for this dining experience.
  • This experience began with a dessert box but now includes dinner.
  • Reservations are recommended, but you don’t have to pre-pay in full. If you don’t show, the standard $10 per person penalty charge will be applied to your credit card on file.
  • The lounge is open from 8pm-10pm.
  • Children 2 and under are free and can eat off of your plate.
  • If fireworks are cancelled, you will not be offered a refund.
  • Special diets will be accommodated. When making your reservation, be sure to include notes on exactly what you can and cannot eat so that Disney can make a special box for you.

My Thoughts

I really enjoyed this experience. The food was good (the Mickey Cloud Cake is what dreams are made of and the Moon Rocks cheese ball is divine.) The lounge is pretty and it felt awesome to be high above the busy park after a long day.

Fireworks are not a guaranteed part of this experience. With that in mind, if I had paid for my whole family to attend, I would have left disappointed. Fireworks are cancelled often at Disneyland due to its location within the city of Anaheim. So, please keep in mind that there will always be a chance that you will only be able to enjoy the lounge, food, atmosphere and fun.

For some families, this will be a fit. Seeing Mickey interact with guests was a lot of fun. He played checkers with some kids, posed for photos, and more. It was a more personal experience than what seeing Mickey in the park can provide. Having phone chargers was nice. The furniture was comfortable and the atmosphere, overall, was lovely.

Notes

  • Arrive 30 minutes early if you want your choice of seating. There really isn’t a bad seating option, though.
  • You may come and go to the lounge, as you will have a wrist band.
  • Restrooms are not located on site. You will have to leave and visit the location near Autopia or to the right of Space Mountain to use the restroom.
  • The parade cannot be seen from this location.
  • Music from the Tomorrowland Terrace can be heard from this location, which was fun. Bands typically play on weekends only.
  • Bring a sweater, as this location is a bit chillier than other parts of the park.

I’m anxious to know how guests respond to this option. If you try it, leave me a comment! Have a question? Happy to help you.

  1. I have a reservation during the 4th of July weekend … I’m on my own and use a walker and also have a reservation for the World of Color (second showing as my reservation there is 9:15). Will I be able to get to DCA if I try to stay for the DL fireworks (which they usually have on the weekend)? Looking forward to going and seeing how my experience will compare to that of families of 2 or more….

    1. Hello, Diane!

      Nice to hear from you.

Watch Disneyland Forever fireworks from Town Square (between the Main Street RR Station and Main Street) so you can make a quick departure for World of Color at DCA.

9:15pm is your check in time for the Dessert Party, but you can scoot in a bit later.

All of this is much easier to achieve since you’re solo.

      Have the best time!

  2. Hi Casey,

I’m heading to the park next week and it looks like either all the dates I am there (and every day into March) are booked or it’s not open in January. Do you know if it’s currently closed? Do you have any experience with day-of reservations? (ie. do you just check on-line that morning?). Trying to find new things to experience at the park and this seemed neat, plus the views reminded me of the good ol’ days of the PeopleMover.

    1. In slower times of the year, the park hosts fewer events like this. Keep watching the schedule. You never know when it could change! Same day reservations are sometimes possible.

  3. I have reservations for this for April 19th- now it is Pixar fireworks with lots of castle projections. Will I be able to see any of that from this location or should I maybe cancel and watch from Small World? Thanks!

  4. Two weeks before a quick three day trip to Disneyland/California Adventure my husband stumbled across the Tomorrowland Skyview Lounge. He called into Disney and asked a dozen questions and based off what he was told he booked it.

He was super excited to surprise our 10 year old and kept it a secret until she was being handed her box of treats.

One of the things my husband was told by the reservation rep was that seats are assigned as you arrive. If you want a good seat then you need to be there at least 30 minutes early. (He was 45 min. early) So you can imagine when he was the 3rd person in line how shocked and surprised he was when we were not ushered to the awesome “Mad Men” inspired couch, but instead the plastic high-top neon table with hard plastic chairs that would barely hold the plastic boxes of treats nevertheless our phones, phone chargers or board game that they tout you can play while there. When we asked for a seat on the couches we were flat out told no. That those seats are for larger parties and the only way we could sit there was if someone with a reservation did not show up. (This is not what was told to my husband by the rep and it is NOT posted anywhere on their site.) After asking to speak to someone, a cast member named “Jessica” told us that this seat was the best we were going to get and again that the couches were for larger parties (although we just watched a party of 3 being shown their seat which was at the comfy couch… they arrived 20 min AFTER us.)

After asking for the manager and requesting our money back we walked away. And although we did get our $130 refunded, the time my husband spent to get the perfect seat for our daughter and the disappointment on his face could not be compensated.

Sadly Disney… YOU FAILED and did not demonstrate the four keys… Safety, Courtesy, Show, and Efficiency.

In addition to the uncomfortable (and dangerous if you have a smaller child) seat, the view was nothing spectacular. You cannot see the castle at all and all you can pretty much see is the roof of the restaurant and the roof of the Buzz Lightyear ride.

Another thing worth sharing is that the fumes from the go-karts is so strong that it will make you nauseous.

    1. Hey, Jami.

I’m so sorry you had a bad experience. I enjoyed mine at the lounge, but I understand we all have our own preferences and expectations. Just a note however: there isn’t actually a view guaranteed in Disney’s description for the lounge. I only share this with you now in case other guests read my review and then your comments. You have some good feedback and I want other readers to understand exactly what they’re paying for. I’m glad you got your money back. Hope so much your future experiences like this are better!

  5. Has anyone seen the fireworks from this location? Is it a decent view? Is it easy to get a reservation for this experience – if we wanted to wait till the day of to be a little more sure of the weather, would we be likely to get in? Thanks!!

  6. We always love watching the fireworks from tomorrowland. It’s not as crowded & the view is great. I’m tempted to do this for our family but $45 each seems a lot & I can guarantee one of my kids will barely touch the food offered. On the fence!!!

  7. After this post, I made our reservations. We will be celebrating our anniversary that night so this will be a perfect evening event since we have our Fantasmic dinner reservations the next day. Great post and thanks for the tips!

  8. Hi Casey! Wondering how long is Mickey around? Might be worth it just to have a private party with him! My 2 and 7 years old would love it. Thanks! Tatiana

  9. I am going to DL for the first time in July. We only have 2.5 days to see it all. Would you recommend this over a Blue Bayou dining experience to see all? What if I am wheat free, do you know how they handle that? I’ve been to wdw more times than I can count and am just having a hard time planning.

  10. Great review, Casey! I’ve got reservations for Thursday, June 8 and am looking forward to this “experience.” (I’ve put ina request for lactose & wheat free, so it will be interesting to see what I get.)

  11. Great review thanks. I had originally thought of booking this but recall you mentioning the fireworks can be dicey I think b/c of wind? I would have been way disappointed if they were cancelled. That is a lot of money for a box of treats. WDW has a massive buffet and fireworks are never cancelled. Price had been29 there now it is 50 but still way more desserts and never cancelled fireworks (very very rarely anyway). That pricepoint at DL is too high for the risk associated IMO.
