Frozen 2

Updated March 6, 2020

It’s finally time!

Frozen 2 is here. The long awaited sequel has arrived.

I attended an early screening of this film at Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California on November 19, 2019.

Here’s what you need to know….

Franchise Info

The original film, Frozen, debuted in November of 2013.

Its success was phenomenal, rattling every part of what goes into supporting a Disney film. Merchandise, parks, and more….no one could have seen what Frozen would amount to.

On November 22, 2019, Frozen 2 arrived!

My Thoughts

Ok, here we go.

If you liked the first movie, you will love Frozen 2. I loved Frozen. LOVED IT. And, I will openly admit that I don’t enjoy all Disney movies.

I, of course, recognize that no one does animation and storytelling better than Disney. But, I don’t connect with every movie like I did with Frozen.

Similar themes resonate in Frozen 2. Girl power, sister bonds, seeking support from friends and family….it’s all there. And, it’s done very well.

Frozen 2’s plot is more complex than the original. And, it’s funnier. The scene with Kristoff – about midway in – had me in absolute tears from laughing so hard. I also loved Olaf’s recap of the first film.

I didn’t think it was any scarier than Frozen. There are some intense scenes, but nothing unsuitable for a PG audience.

I recommend you see Frozen before Frozen 2. As hard as Olaf tries to recap the original, that part doesn’t happen until about 45 minutes in and it’s a lot to keep up with. Knowing the first story will help you understand this sequel.

Also! Stay past the credits. You won’t be sorry.

Music

Just like the original, Frozen 2’s music is fantastic.

We listened to it on Spotify en route to seeing the movie, which gave us a preview of what was to come. It was fun!

I cried like a baby during the song, The Next Right Thing. It’s heartbreaking and beautiful. My favorite – by far – on the soundtrack.

There’s no shortage of Frozen 2 merchandise at the Disneyland Resort.

Of course, Target, Walmart and more big retailers have plenty in stock for the holidays ahead.

Walt Disney Studios

I saw Frozen 2 at the main theater at Walt Disney Studios in Burbank.

I was in absolute awe of this historical Disney mecca, as I had never been before!

Take a look at this post for a tour of this area with details on how our visit played out.

Frozen Hot Chocolate with Dippin’ Dots

I made this treat with my kids on the official opening day of Frozen 2.

It’s sugary sweet and easy to create. If you have tried the famous Frozen Hot Chocolate at Serendipity in New York City, you know what this tastes like. It’s divine.

Here’s a link to the recipe.

For a perfect movie day, do this:

  • Make Frozen Hot Chocolate
  • Listen to the Frozen 2 soundtrack (link above)
  • See Frozen 2!

Notes

Disney invited me screen the movie prior to its opening. All opinions are mine, however! I truly did enjoy this film and hope so much that you’ll see it.
