Solo Trips to Disneyland and Walt Disney World

Updated June 2, 2025

I’m solo more often than not at Disney Parks and have learned some things that work and things that don’t.

Let’s jump in!

Have a Plan

If you’re focused on rides, use one of my strategies to ensure you get to all the attractions on your list.

Find those strategies – with tips on how to start your day – in this post.

Use Single Rider Lines

If you’re less focused on rides and want to wander the park instead, consider using Single Rider lines to minimize your wait time.

They’re available at both parks and cost nothing.

Find what you need to know about Single Rider lines here.

Treat Yourself

Visiting the parks solo often allows me to splurge more than if I were with my family.

Consider a private tour or anything else you won’t want to multiple the cost of when you return with more people.

Here are some suggestions.

Don’t Skip Photos

If you purchased Lightning Lanes, don’t forget about your ride photos.

And be sure to get in line anywhere else you see photos being taken by PhotoPass photographers. You’ll want photos from your solo day, above and beyond selfies.

Characters

Characters are so much fun when you’re on your own.

The interaction is often better than when you’re with a group because you’re the sole focus. Don’t miss them!

Dive Into Disney History

Spend an hour or less on Main Street working through the scavenger hunt I created to showcase several nostalgic stops at the front of the park.

In it, you’ll find 10 important details no Disney fan should miss.

Make a Dining Reservation Each Day

I don’t mind dining solo and I hope you don’t either. Character meals are always entertaining because when you’re solo, they often show you unusual attention.

For example, Minnie once sat with me and acted like we were chatting at Plaza Inn at Disneyland. At Hollywood & Vine, Goofy sat with me for about 5 minutes and salted my food!

Here’s all about dining and reservations at the Disneyland Resort.

And here’s info on character meals.

Don’t feel like committing to a dining time but still want a good experience? Check out the bar options for dining at any restaurant that has one. I’ve really enjoyed dining solo at Napa Rose, Naples in Downtown Disney, Craftsman Grill, etc.

Dining and Shopping on the App

Don’t forget to use mobile ordering for dining.

And mobile checkout for shopping.

No more waiting in lines!
