This new toy for Disneyland’s 70th celebration is lots of fun!
And there’s a lot to know about it.
Before we get started, note these other helpful resources for the 70th:
- Here’s all about the 70th Celebration.
- This link includes 70th merchandise.
- Looking for a fun way to use your MagicBand+ during the celebration? Here’s how.
- And this link takes you to a fantastic sale for the launch of the 70th.
Ok, let’s take a look at all that’s involved with the Key to Disneyland!

Basic Scoop
You can purchase these large plastic toy keys around the Disneyland Resort for $60.
Look for them at the big (and small) stores including:
- World of Disney in Downtown Disney
- Emporium on Main Street inside Disneyland
- Fronteirland Mercantile inside Disneyland
Essentially, the toy allows you to take it around the park, unlocking magic as you go. At each stop, the key will unlock a new icon that will glow a new color light effect on your key. You’ll hear music with each unlocking, too.
Some stops light up, some spray bubbles and more! Here’s a peek:

When you finish all of your checkpoints, you unlock one of 9 unique trading pins that is actually inside the key when you buy it. But you have to complete all of the stops before you can access it.

Tips for Using the Key
- This first one is important! Make sure the key is on. There’s a button to switch over to “on” before use. If you don’t turn the key on, it will still light up at the lock pads, cause the bubbles and it will make noise. But!!!! If the key is not “on”, it will not record your progress. And you need all 9 icons lit up on the key to unlock the trading pin.
- There is an override option that allows you to skip all the stops and go directly to the trading pin. Scroll down to “The Fine Print” for those instructions.
Make sure your key is making progress by noting the icons on the key at each stop. For example, here’s my icon from Bayou Country:

Lock Pad Locations List
You can start at any of the stops, but you must finish at the Mickey Topiary Finale lock station in the front of Disneyland Park.
Here are all of the lock stations:
- Main Street – Fire House
- Adventureland – Adventureland Bazaar
- New Orleans Square – Next to Club 33
- Bayou Country – By the shops by Tiana’s exit
- Tomorrowland – By Buzz Lightyear’s exit
- Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – Across from Rise
- Frontierland – Next to the stagecoach by Galaxy’s Edge
- Mickey’s Toontown – Right of Roger Rabbit (there’s also one near the RR Station for when Toontown is closed)
- Fantasyland – Near the princess meet n greet
- Final one at the front of the park – near the Mickey flower on each side
****Take a screen capture of this list for easy reference. It’s also on the back of the toy’s packaging.

Locations:
Front of the Park (this is where you end)
***I’ve seen this on both sides of tunnel at the front of the park near the flower Mickey.

Fire Station (Main Street)
***Just to the left when you walk in.

Tomorrowland
***Near the Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters exit.

Mickey’s Toontown
***To the right, near the entrance of Roger Rabbit.

Frontierland
***This is a tricky location because it’s nearly inside Galaxy’s Edge. Find it at the entrance of Galaxy’s Edge near the stagecoach.

Galaxy’s Edge
***Inside of Galaxy’s Edge, across from Rise of the Resistance.

Bayou Country
***Head all the way back to the shops to the left of Pooh Corner.

New Orleans Square
***Between the Club 33 entrance and the restrooms.

Fantasyland
***Near where you meet the princesses.

Adventureland
***Inside the Adventureland Bazaar Shop.

Notes
- The key is ready to go when you purchase it. No need for batteries.
- You can technically collect all 9 unique pins, but there’s no way to know which one is in each toy key.
