On May 7, 2024, the final vote was made to move forward with this project. It’s happening! More to come.

On March 26, 2021, Disneyland announced proposed plans for possible expansion of the Disneyland Resort over the next several years.

There’s a lot of exciting things possibly ahead for our parks and hotels here in Anaheim, California. I can’t wait to see how it all plays out.

For now, here’s what we know….

Basic Scoop

DisneylandForward is Disneyland’s public planning effort with the City of Anaheim.
Ken Potrock, president of the Disneyland Resort, shares that DisneylandForward will aim to “update our development approvals to meet the current and future demand in entertainment. With these updated approvals, Disneyland Resort will continue to be an industry leader in bringing first-of-a-kind offerings to Anaheim, which in turn will create thousands of new jobs and help support Anaheim’s funding for important services such as fire, police and public schools.”
It’s important to note that Disneyland is not seeking any public funding in this effort.
Disneyland also has no intention of developing any additional square footage or hotel rooms beyond what is already permitted.

This link, from the same site I just mentioned, clearly lays out current FAQ’s. This helped me understand more of what’s happening with DisneylandForward.

On April 16, 2024, Anaheim City Council gave its preliminary approval for the $1.9 billion expansion.
