Are you interested in adding a fun hour to your trip? Take a look at my scavenger hunt.
It can be completed in under an hour, is suitable for kids and adults and will showcase some of the basics of Disneyland history.
All of the locations to find are on Main Street, between Town Center and the hub, so it’s concise and won’t take up too much of your day.

The Hunt
Here is the actual hunt, detailing 10 locations to find on Main Street. Along with each location, you’ll find the significance of its inclusion. You can print this pdf image easily onto an 8.5″ x 11″ sheet of paper. Or, screen save it to your phone.
The Map
And, here is a map, in case you get stuck, also in pdf format. Also printable as an 8.5″ x 11″.
Photos of Each Location
Here are photos of the actual locations on and around Main Street so that you can identify them in case the map isn’t enough. Click on the name of each location for a link to further information.
Bookmark this post if you plan to do the hunt in the park and get stuck. Or, just ask a cast member!
1. The Bench – in the Opera House
2. The Lamp – above the Fire Station in Walt Disney’s apartment
3. The Red & White Light Bulb – where red and white complete the pattern
4. Elias Disney’s Name on a Window – the highest of Disney honor
5. The Flag Pole – where the flag retreat ceremony happens each afternoon
6. The Brick Sample Wall – where brick patterns were tested by Walt Disney
7. The Magic Shop – where Steve Martin worked
8. The Silhouette Shop – a tradition of souvenirs
9. The Animated Windows – some “new” history for the 60th Anniversary & a nod to iconic Disney films
10. The Train Locator – when trains are running, you can see them barely glow on the map, showing their actual location in the park
If you want to see some more fun, historical stops in the park, check out my Unique Disneyland post.
Where is the train locator exactly? On a recent trip, I asked a cast member and they had no idea what I was talking about…
When you walk in the Main Street RR Station, it’s to the left, before you walk outside to board the train. I’ll try to grab a photo of the location on Sunday and post with my park update on Facebook.
Awesome, thank you so much!
Hi there,
Do you have or could you tell me where to find a printable map of both Disneyland and California Adventure? We are visual people over here and like the idea of highlighting/mapping out our plan for the day. Thanks for your help!
Hi, Ashly.
Here is where you can find them online:
https://disneyland.disney.go.com/maps/
Send me an email at Casey@DLRPrepSchool.com and I’ll mail you actual park maps. Just let me know what you need and how many.
Just asked the 10yo if she wants to do this next week. Her response, “What will I get?” LOL Guess i need to come up with a cheap prize! This is probably the only way I can get the kids to see all of these things without whining about Mom dragging them to all the “boring history stuff” or some nonsense, so thank you for that! 🙂
Does your 10 year old know my kids? I got the same response! Hope y’all enjoy it. 🙂
Hello!
This sounds like so much fun! My 3 sons and I are going to DisneyLand this June. I will do this even if it would be just for me. lol Do you happen to have any hunts for kids? things that would make THEM “happy”?
Thank you. Kris 😉
This is the first I have created and it’s suitable for children, too. I’ll think about doing a child-only focused one, too. Thanks for the idea!
I can’t wait to try this out! We will be there in 2 weeks!!!!! Thank you for this fun activity!
Totally welcome!
