Ever stop at this shop inside Disneyland Park?
It’s been there forever and has a couple of fun bits of trivia you should know.
Let’s go inside!

Basic Scoop
The Main Street Magic Shop opened in 1957, two years after Disneyland opened. It followed another shop called Merlin’s Magic Shop that opened in 1955. The Main Street store is the only remaining magic shop today.
It boasts the charm and design of when it first opened and feels like a departure from the usual stores you’re familiar with.
You can purchase tricks and even ask the cast member on site to see one! It’s a ton of fun.
This shop opens and closes with the rest of the park. And it operates a little differently, as it’s owned by an outside company, Vanishing Inc Magic.

What You Shouldn’t Miss
Steve Martin
Check out Steve Martin’s autographed photo on the wall. He started working at Disneyland around the age of 10 (!!!!) selling guide books and then eventually at the Main Street Magic Shop until he was 18.
Steve learned comedic timing and other acting elements that led to his success during his employment at the happiest place on earth.

Houdini’s Message
Walk into the Magic Shop, veer left a bit, pick up the antique wall phone and listen!
It plays a small portion of one of Harry Houdini’s performances from long ago. See it here.
