Granting Wishes at the Disneyland Resort

Updated October 13, 2023

Wishes come true at Disneyland every day. For some guests, these dreams become a reality with the help of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and other wish-granting organizations.

Guests at the Disneyland Resort play an important role in creating this magic. The smallest gestures add up to make these wishes possible.

I’ve partnered with Disney today to share all about how you can help. Contributing is easy! In this post, I’ve detailed what you can do.

How You Can Help

It’s easier than you think.

Tossing coins into the water features at the Disneyland Resort helps fund Make-A-Wish visits. Collect your change until it’s time for your visit and then toss them in. That’s it!

Take a look at this video, created by the Disneyland Resort, sharing more about how your coins come together to make magic happen:

There are many water features around the resort.

I’ve highlighted three options, below.

Wishing Well

The Wishing Well near Sleeping Beauty Castle is likely the most well known option for coins.

If you’re facing the castle, veer right and walk down the path you see in the following photo.

There it is! Just beyond this darling bridge (which is one of my favorite photo ops in the park).

Toss in coins and know they’ll add up into something magical for a child in need.

Canals at “it’s a small world”

“it’s a small world”, located in Fantasyland, includes slow moving boats setting sail on a trip around the world.

The canals in which those boats float through collect coins. Toss them in!

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

In Frontierland, the wildest ride in the wilderness includes a large water feature perfect for catching coins.

Toss them in!

Notes

  • Visit this link for more on how wish granting works at the Disneyland Resort.
  • Consider including children in your efforts to save coins for your Disneyland visit. I’m challenging my own kids to save by placing a small mason jar on our kitchen counter to collect them. We’ll take the coins to the parks on our next visit.
  • Don’t forget to make your own wish while tossing them in!

  1. I guess I never realized the coins from the wishing well went to children in need. Thanks Casey for letting us know…….we will bring some change to the park for sure!!

  2. I love this! Thank you so much for sharing. I think it’s particularly sweet how people are making their own wishes when they drop coins into the well, and then Disney turns these into money to make real wishes come through! How they fish out the coins from Small World or from Big Thunder, though, I have no idea… more Disney magic!
