“Walt Disney – A Magical Life” Virtual Queue

Updated July 14, 2025

***not in use as of July 19, 2025

Occasionally, Disneyland will implement virtual queues to help with crowding. A virtual queue allows you to “stand in line” from somewhere else.

They’re easy to use, but you will need to know what to do. This post will show you.

Current Options Using Virtual Queues

  • “Walt Disney – A Magical Life”

Upon its arrival on July 17, 2025, “Walt Disney – A Magical Life” will include a virtual queue. A standby line will not be available, so you must enter the queue to see the show.

Pre-Game

Before you arrive, be sure to download and familiarize yourself with the Disneyland app.

You’ll use this app for Lightning Lanes, mobile ordering food, mobile checkout, World of Color and lots more.

To use the virtual queue, you will need to have your park ticket attached. Make sure you have a park reservation for Disneyland, too.

Details

There are two opportunities to join this virtual queue – 7:00am and noon.

7:00 AM – Guests must have a park reservation for Disneyland Park with a one-park ticket or a park reservation for Disneyland Park with a Park Hopper ticket to request to join the virtual queue.

12:00 PM (Noon) – Guests inside Disney California Adventure Park with a Park Hopper ticket or inside Disneyland Park can request to join the virtual queue.

  • Beginning at 6:00am, the app will allow you to confirm your party for the 7:00am chance.
  • Beginning at 11:00am, the app will allow you to confirm your party for the 12pm chance.

When 7:00am or 12pm arrives, click on “virtual queues” from the Home Screen of the app and follow the prompts as quickly as possible to grab your spot.

Step away from kids or other distractions to do this because these spots will be gone in literal seconds. Focus!

If you’re successful, you’ll be assigned a return window. The app will provide this information along with an alert when it’s your time.

My Best Tip for Your Success

Watch your phone for the correct timing – to the very second.

A minute before you are set to try for the queue, pay attention to the second hand on your iPhone clock app icon (or similar option) so that you know the very second the queue opens. Literally be ready to take action the second the queue opens. Count down until you can by watching the second hand.

I can’t stress enough how competitive this is. Slots will fill in just a few seconds.

Recap

Quickly put:

  • Make sure you have the app on your phone and be signed in.
  • Add everyone’s tickets.
  • Confirm your party at 6am for the 7am try. Confirm your party at 11am for the 12pm try.
  • Try at 7:00am and if you’re unsuccessful, try at noon.

Notes

  • Unlike WDW, Disneyland’s app does not sync guests. One person in your party will need to add everyone’s ticket to one account. Doing this ensures you join the same virtual queue time slot. Standing next to your buddy and pushing the buttons at the same time could result in far different time slots. It’s best to get everyone listed in one place. (Do this for Lightning Lanes, too.)
  • You may join only once per day, per queue.
  • You may join multiple queues in one day, however. For example, you can join the queue for the new show about Walt Disney and then also World of Color.
  • Attraction queues typically have an hour time slot to return to. Don’t be late!
  • If you do not successfully enter either queue, you won’t be able to ride. A standby line will not be available.
