Epcot International Festival of Arts at Walt Disney World

Updated October 13, 2023

It’s happening!

My favorite festival has returned to Epcot during my favorite time of year to visit.

There’s a lot to know about this event.

Let’s take a look at what you should not miss.

Basic Scoop

  • This event occurs from January 14 to February 21, 2022.
  • Disney covers the details at this link.
  • It’s held in Epcot, which is one of the 4 theme parks at Walt Disney World. Theme park admission is required to visit. A theme park reservation is, too.
  • There is no additional cost to attend the festival. Everything festival-related is present throughout the park, both inside and out.
  • This event highlights so many talented people and actually sells pieces you can purchase on site. You might be able to have it signed by the artist!

Why It’s My Favorite

Epcot’s International Festival of the Arts is Walt Disney World’s least hyped event, but it’s actually the best, in my opinion.

Why?

It occurs after the new year, each year, in January and February. I love the weather during these months. It’s pretty much the only time of the year that we are very likely (no guarantees) to NOT have hot, hot temperatures. I get to pack a sweater!

It’s also after the chaos of the holidays calms a bit. Christmas is packed up. Time to get out and explore!

I look forward to these trips more than any other each year.

How to Structure Your Day

I recommend you start your day at the front of Epcot and tackle attractions when lines are low.

Arrive an hour early. Get your “work” done with rides. Then, wander and enjoy the festival once you’re finished.

I’ve shared my recommended order of attractions at Epcot, along with lots more important info regarding how to move through this park in the most efficient manner possible, in this post. Don’t miss it. (These strategies do not include Genie+ or a la carte Lightning Lanes, as I don’t think it’s necessary for a day at Epcot.)

So, to recap:

  • Arrive early
  • Focus on attractions
  • Enjoy the Arts Festival
  • Repeat attractions if desired

Favorite Spots at the Festival

I love these fun festival activities, most of which can be found in or on the way to World Showcase.

  • Color By Number paint project
  • Artists’ booths
  • Photo ops of famous paintings
  • Chalk drawings
