It’s the best!
One of my favorite ways to relax in the parks is to jump on the train.
Let’s take a look at what this attraction includes along with a train locator hidden gem you will want to see – and most guests miss it.
All aboard! Let’s go.

Basic Scoop
The Disneyland Railroad is a classic attraction and I encourage you to include it in your day. It’s ideal in the late afternoon when the other rides have peak wait times.
The ride, round trip, takes about 30 minutes total. Each stop includes a few minutes for guests to load and unload.
The ride is also narrated a bit with the announcer sharing little details around the park that I always find interesting.
Guests with wheelchairs or scooters will need to board the train at any station except for Main Street, as it does not have a ramp. Enter through the exit at New Orleans Square, Toontown or Tomorrowland and a cast member will show you to the loading area.

Railroad Stations
There are four stops and you can hop on or off any of them at any point during the day. The stops include:
- Main Street
- New Orleans Square
- Toontown
- Tomorrowland

The Scary Part
There are a few smaller tunnels on the full circle loop, but only one is significant and might scare little ones. It’s dark and includes loud dinosaur roars and thunder/weather.
This tunnel is between Tomorrowland and Main Street stations, so avoid it if you have guests in your group who might not like that.
Here’s a video of the first part where you go through the Grand Canyon.
And here’s a video of the second part where you def the dinosaurs.

Hidden Gem – The Train Locator
When you go into the Main Street Railroad Station, take a left and look for this map in the corner.
It includes a map of the park and if you look closely, you’ll see the location of each train running at Disneyland at that time.
It’s updated in real time! Take a look at this post for more about this little treasure.

I have this gem listed in my Disneyland Scavenger Hunt.
Spend an hour on Main Street discovering the history of the park along with fun secrets like this.
Find that here.

Additional Resources
The train runs every day from open to close and is a great idea for toddlers! Check out this post for more toddler tips.
Disneyland offers a tour that includes all sorts of train history and details from around the park. You’ll visit the Roundhouse (it’s amazing!), meet an engineer, ride the Lily Belle and more. Here’s the scoop on that.
